Buildings & Grounds

The Buildings and Grounds Department is responsible for operations and maintenance of all county facilities.    

The department provides clean and well-maintained facilities for the public, Pennington County staff, and partner agencies. 

 

Maintenance Services is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of Pennington County owned and operated facilities. In addition to routine maintenance of the County’s electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, B&G also provides on-call corrective maintenance for the County’s 24-hour facilities. 

Our 20 maintenance staff members are responsible for maintaining 23 facility locations requiring varied skills and trade knowledge such as carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, locksmithing, electrical, painting, drywall, landscaping, welding, and fabrication. We strive to resolve maintenance issues safely and as cost effectively as possible with minimum impact to Pennington County operations. 

Our department completes renovations in-house as well as providing management of renovations carried out by contractors. B&G is responsible for planning and budgeting for Capital Improvements as well as managing the projects. Capital Improvement Planning includes replacement of aging concrete sidewalks and curbing, asphalt parking areas, HVAC replacement, roof replacements, and much more.

 

Custodial Services is comprised of 15 skilled team members who are committed to providing professional and complete custodial services to all customers. The custodial team provides daily extensive cleaning services, distributes supplies, maintains janitorial equipment, and light maintenance such as changing light bulbs.  The primary goal of Custodial Services is to provide a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for county employees, partner agencies, and the public.
